Yael S. Hacohen is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Tel Aviv University’s Department of English and American Studies and the 2026 Jewish Studies Fellow at Boston College. Her research focuses on women’s war poetry, Holocaust writings, and the interpretation of literary and archival texts. Her current work examines material uncertainty in Holocaust-era manuscripts and the methodological challenges of using computational tools in archival research. Her scholarship has appeared in Holocaust Studies, Genealogy, and Settler Colonial Studies, with forthcoming articles in AI & Society, Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and Feminist Formations.
She received her PhD in Rhetoric from the University of California, Berkeley, where her dissertation examined contemporary women’s war poetry. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing in Poetry from New York University and an LLB from Tel Aviv University, where she also studied literature.
